AHA(WA) WELCOMES NEW-LOOK WA CABINET

18 March 2025 | The Australian Hotels Association (WA) has welcomed the announcement of the WA Cook Government’s new Cabinet, highlighting continued leadership in key portfolios that impact the state’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

AHA (WA) CEO Bradley Woods expressed confidence in the reappointed and newly appointed Ministers, emphasising the importance of collaboration to support and grow the hospitality and tourism industry.

“We welcome Minister Paul Papalia continuing to oversee Liquor Licensing in the Racing and Gaming portfolio. Minister Papalia has a comprehensive understanding of the issues facing WA’s hotel and hospitality industry and has previously implemented key reforms to the Liquor Control Act,” Mr Woods said.

“Minister Reece Whitby takes on the Tourism portfolio and we look forward to working with him to continue to enhance WA’s position as a world-class tourism destination.”

Mr Woods also extended gratitude to outgoing Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti for her dedication and impact in the role.

“Minister Saffioti demonstrated a clear passion for the tourism industry, spearheading initiatives that positioned WA as a leading destination for visitors. Her leadership has been instrumental in achieving record-high occupancy rates for Perth hotels in 2024.

“We look forward to continuing our strong working relationship with both Minister Papalia and Minister Whitby as they drive initiatives that benefit Western Australians and all visitors’ enjoyment of our hotels, hospitality venues, and the wider tourism sector.”
